Counterfeit Cannonau: 2,500 hectoliters of wine seized in Sardinia

The Guardia di Finanza has seized 2,500 hectoliters of wine sold and advertised as Cannonau di Sardegna and other recognized denominations, but actually produced from unauthorized grape varieties. The operation on July 9 last, led by the central inspectorate for the suppression of fraud in Cagliari, also brought to light the EU fraud arising from the undue receipt of CAP subsidies by the "counterfeit producer".
