On 23 July 2012, the environmental and forestry police investigation unit of the State Forestry Corps, in collaboration with staff of the ASL of Napoli Nord, seized 10 quintals of shellfish (mussels, clams, fasolari and sea truffles). Two people were reported to the authorities. The mussels, which were deemed to be in a poor state of preservation by the ASL veterinarians, were destroyed to protect consumers and prevent the unfair competition that penalizes honest producers.
