Giuseppe Mandara, owner of a well-known group that markets the PDO Campanian mozzarella, was arrested last July 17 on charges of criminal association of a Camorra type. But the "Bufalo" operation conducted by the agents of the Dia also reveals a fraud relating to dairy products, consisting in having passed off as PDO products that were not, and in having sold batches of mozzarella contaminated by pieces of ceramic caused by the breakdown of the mixing machines.
