Registry of products for Special Dietary Uses: update

Published on 27/12/2013

focus-medicoThe Ministry of Health has released an update concerning foods for special medical purposes, gluten-free foods and infant formulas covered by the National Health Service (SSN). This is the NATIONAL REGISTRY OF PRODUCTS INTENDED FOR SPECIAL DIETARY USES

The update to the National Registry referred to in art. 7 of the Ministerial Decree of 8 June 2001 concerning supplementary health assistance for products intended for special dietary uses was published on 7 February 2013 and updated on 18 December 2013.

It should be noted that for gluten-free products and foods for special medical purposes, the notification procedure concludes with a formal note of approval from the Office, which is sent to the companies and regions concerned. The closure of the procedure places the product concerned on the same footing as those already included in the National Registry, pending publication of the Registry's update.

Finally, it should be noted that companies are entitled, after the favorable closure of the procedure, to place on the products' outer packaging a reference to inclusion in the National Registry (see annex 1).
